Bobby Cobb

Your Ultimate Guide to Overcoming Self-Doubt and Building Confidence

I wrote “Rise Above: Ten Ways to Strengthen Your Mindset as a Teenager” because I know what it’s like to face personal and physical setbacks as a teenager and how they can affect your mindset. I want to provide the guidance and tools needed for pessimistic middle and high school students who feel like giving up to rise above their challenges and thrive confidently.

With my experience as a public servant, a U.S. Navy veteran, the CEO and Founder of Cobb Global Outreach (CGO), INC, a TBI survivor, and a mentor to middle and high school students, CGO Inc. provides financial literacy education to students and offer scholarships. Through my organization, I have significantly impacted students’ lives and have firsthand knowledge of their struggles. Additionally, with a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems and a Master’s in Public Administration-General Government, I am uniquely qualified to help students improve their self-confidence and self-esteem.

I encourage you to read “Rise Above” and begin your journey towards improved self-confidence and mindset. Let my experiences and guidance inspire you to conquer doubts and achieve your goals.

What Readers Say About
the Book

Rise Above by Bobby Cobb is a standout guide for teenagers looking to navigate the difficult terrain of adolescence with strength, purpose, and faith. As someone who works with youth, I found this book to be a grounded and heartfelt tool that speaks directly to the struggles and emotions teens often don’t know how to express.

Bobby Cobb brings a unique and powerful voice to this space—not as a distant author, but as someone who has lived through tremendous personal adversity. His background as a U.S. Navy veteran living with the effects of a traumatic brain injury adds a level of depth and credibility that many books in this genre lack. Cobb doesn’t just talk about perseverance—he is perseverance in action. His tone is encouraging without being preachy, and firm without being harsh. That balance is what makes this book so effective.

Each chapter introduces a key mindset principle—things like learning to embrace change, quieting inner doubt, and committing to growth—even when it feels uncomfortable. What impressed me most was how Cobb combines practical tools with emotional intelligence. The book doesn’t just offer abstract ideas; it gives readers steps to apply those ideas to real-life situations. Activities such as journal writing, guided reflections, and even role-playing exercises are included, making it interactive and highly relatable.

Faith plays a central role throughout, but it’s presented in a way that feels inclusive and encouraging rather than restrictive. Biblical encouragement is woven into the content, but the real power lies in how Cobb uses his personal transformation as a living example of what’s possible when you align mindset, discipline, and belief.

For teens facing anxiety, uncertainty, or a lack of direction, this book provides a safe space and a structured path forward. It addresses the emotional and psychological toll of peer pressure, social comparison, and self-doubt with compassion and clarity. At the same time, it challenges young readers to take ownership of their growth and redefine how they see themselves.

This book would be a powerful asset in classrooms, youth programs, or family settings. It’s not just inspirational—it’s transformational. Whether a teen is struggling with low confidence, feeling stuck in negative thought patterns, or just needing a boost of motivation to keep going, Rise Above offers the support and tools to help them move forward with purpose and hope.

In a world that often tells young people who they should be, Bobby Cobb reminds them of who they can become. This is more than just a book—it’s a catalyst for growth.
